Notes from Sally – Fall 2015
Fundraising events raise awareness for the mission of the Ronald McDonald House, generate “buzz” in the community and raise thousands of dollars required for the operation of the House. The “18th Annual Ronald McDonald House Golf Classic” kicked off summer with McDonald’s franchisees from Western New York and Northwestern, PA., McDonald’s suppliers and local businesses teaming together to raise $83,000. for Ronald McDonald House families!
Despite the sweltering heat on July 29th, the “14th Annual Ronald McDonald House 5K Run & Fisher-Price Play Space” drew 1,052 runners, 140 post run party guests, and 200 (event) volunteers! More than 100 children had a ball at the free interactive activities sponsored by Fisher-Price at the children’s Play Space. Three lucky children received fabulous gift baskets of Fisher-Price toys from the free raffleWe gratefully acknowledge other fundraising events. The “W.N.Y. R.I.C Open” (Erie One BOCES), the “John J. Fiore Memorial Golf Tournament” and “The Bill Fallon Memorial Tournament” (Society of Former FBI Agents/Buffalo Chapter) donate their golf tournament proceeds to Ronald McDonald House families!
No matter how big or small your event, every gift makes a real difference in the lives of our families! Kiersten Taylor, age 7, sold gallons of lemonade at her stand and donated $48.77 to help Ronald McDonald House families! First Niagara Employee Volunteer Council hosted a “Jeans for Charity” event, Lawley Insurance TLC organized “Casual Fridays”, and other companies held hotdog roasts which collectively raised thousands of dollars.
