Ronald McDonald House Charities® of WNY unveils the “Hugs For Hope” Guest Room
BUFFALO, N.Y. (September, 2016) – On Sunday, September 11th Ronald McDonald House Charities of WNY unveiled the newly designed “Hugs for Hope” guest room. The room designed with a “Buffalo Canalside” theme represents the vision and hard work of the Comforting Hugs Foundation “Hugs for Hope” group. Formed in 2015 by the Comforting Hugs Foundation, the “Hugs for Hope” group consists of high school sophomores from Orchard Park High School (8 students) and Nardin Academy (1 student). Through various fundraisers (a Paula’s Donut Sale, a Car Wash and a T-Shirt Sale), the students raised half of the project funds which were then matched by The Comforting Hugs Foundation.
The students independently developed the theme for the room and created the implementation plan. Within a one- week time frame, they painted the walls and ceiling, added new furniture including tables, chairs, dressers and room accessories.
“We are delighted with our new guest room interior design that not only reflects our local Buffalo community, but also creates a warm and cozy atmosphere for our guest families. The students showed dedication, creativity and imagination, we are all very impressed and proud of the work they did”, says Sally Vincent, Executive Director, Ronald McDonald House Charities of WNY.
The room redesign is part of the RMHCWNY “Adopt a Room” program.

About Comforting Hugs Foundation, Inc.
Comforting Hugs Foundation, Inc. a 501c3 nonprofit was started in 2013. Beyond the obvious medical fears and difficulties, a hospital room lacks the comfort and coziness of home. This is WHY at Comforting Hugs our mission is to provide care bags and give each child a pillowcase & fleece tie blanket to help brighten up their room and hopefully their day and provide the family, if just for a moment the opportunity to put aside their worries and enjoy something fun. Now Comforting Hugs Foundation also is working toward giving support to the whole family of the child. As part of that we are always looking for ways to help. The Hugs for Hope project is one of the ways that help the whole family.
