About RMHC

Ronald McDonald House Charities® of Western New York (RMHC® of WNY) is a local chapter of Ronald McDonald House Charities Global (RMHC®). RMHC of WNY is a separate 501 (c) 3 nonprofit organization with its own volunteer Board of Directors.

RMHC of WNY is responsible for its own fundraising and program priorities, and is 100% funded by generous donations from the local Western New York community.

Our cornerstone, Ronald McDonald House® in Buffalo, opened in 1983 with the single focus of providing a “home away from home” for families of seriously ill or injured children receiving treatment at nearby hospitals. The Ronald McDonald House was built on the simple idea that nothing else should matter when a family is focused on the health of their child – not where they can afford to stay, where they will get their next meal or where they will lay their head at night to rest.

Since that time, more than 18,000 families from Western New York and Northwestern Pennsylvania, the country and the world, have benefited from the comfort provided by our House. Children heal better when surrounded by the comforts of home and family. RMHC of WNY keeps families close when they need each other the most.

Additionally, Ronald McDonald House Charities of Western New York supports programs focusing on benefiting children.

Since 1999 this was accomplished through their Community Granting Program that supported not-for-profit organizations whose programs directly improve the health and well-being of children in our Western New York communities.

RMHC of WNY is very excited to announce that in late 2017 new programs will be launched in the Western New York market that will directly benefit the families of seriously ill or injured children.

Financial support for these programs will come from the local McDonald’s Owners/Operators of WNY and North West Pennsylvania Canister Collection Program, and our WNY community.

We strive to be part of that change and part of the solution in improving the lives of children and their families by providing programs that strengthen families during their most difficult or challenging times.
