About RMHC of WNY
Ronald McDonald House Charities of Western New York (RMHC of WNY) keeps families with sick/injured children together and near the care and resources they need.
RMHC of WNY is a local chapter of Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC), a not-for-profit organization, which finds and supports programs that directly improve the health and well-being of children. RMHC of WNY is operated by a local volunteer board of directors.
RMHC of WNY is responsible for its own fundraising and program priorities, and is 100% funded by generous donations from the local Western New York community.
Our cornerstone, the Ronald McDonald House in Buffalo, opened in 1983. The Buffalo Ronald McDonald House provides a home environment of comfort and support, keeping families of seriously ill or injured children receiving treatment at nearby hospitals, together.
Located on the fifth floor of John R. Oishei Children’s Hospital (OCH), our Family Lounge is a welcoming, home-like space for families, just steps away from their children in the hospital.
Our Happy Wheels Cart also located in OCH travels room to room offering patients and families complimentary beverages, snacks and activities while enabling them to remain at their child’s bedside.
Financial support for our OCH programs comes from the local McDonald’s Owners/Operators of WNY and North West Pennsylvania Canister Collection Program, and our WNY community.
The mission of RMHC of WNY is to create and support programs that directly improve the health and well-being of children and their families.
We believe that when you change a child’s life, you change a family’s, which can change a community, and ultimately the world.
We strive to be part of that change and part of the solution in improving the lives of children and their families by providing programs that strengthen families during their most difficult or challenging times.
