Hospital volunteers
Support for families and children at local hospitals
We rely on volunteers to extend our signature RMHC hospitality to our hospital guests.
As a volunteer at OCH, you can support families who visit the Ronald McDonald Family Room and Family Laundry Room and walk to the patient’s bedside with our Ronald McDonald Hospitality Cart.
- Program Schedule: Our Hospital Programs run seven days a week. Shifts are available Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM and Saturday and Sunday from 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM, each lasting 3.5 hours.
- Requirements: Volunteers must be 18 years or older, complete the John R. Oishei Children’s Hospital (OCH) Annual Health Assessment, and attend the OCH Mandatory Volunteer Orientation, which includes HIPAA and RMHC of WNY training.
- Commitment: Volunteers are asked to commit to two 3.5-hour shifts per month. (We understand some volunteers may have extended absences during the year and welcome participation whenever you’re available.)
- Volunteer Benefits: After each 3.5-hour shift, volunteers receive a free parking pass and a $6.00 meal voucher.
As a volunteer, you will:
Welcome and acquaint visitors to the Hospital Programs offerings
Provide support to patients and families.
Prepare drinks and snacks: Make coffee and display beverages and snacks.
Organize supplies for the kitchenette and Hospitality Cart
Push our Hospitality Cart on the patient floors, visiting patients and families.
Tidy the room and cart: This will include wiping the counters and the refrigerator and cleaning small spills. (Heavy cleaning is done by Kaleida staff after hours)
