Staying at the Ronald McDonald House in Buffalo

A referral from a healthcare provider or social worker is required to stay at our Ronald McDonald House in Buffalo.

At the Ronald McDonald House, we focus on keeping families together. To that end, we want to create a safe, secure, and pleasant atmosphere for our guest families. This allows all of our guest families to focus on the care and well-being of their child.

The Buffalo Ronald McDonald House provides affordable and comfortable lodging for families whose children are receiving treatment at Buffalo medical facilities. But the House is much more than just a place to stay; it is a quiet sanctuary for rest, comfort, and support after a day at the hospital. It’s a safe place where family members can meet and share their experiences, concerns, joys, and sometimes grief. We recognize and celebrate the rich diversity of guest families.

• Priority is given to families who live 25 miles or more from the Buffalo Ronald McDonald House and have a child being treated at an area hospital.
• Family members must be first referred to the House by a hospital staff member, social worker, nurse, or doctor. A medical professional can make referrals between 9:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m., seven days a week.
• A Letter of Medical Necessity must be presented upon check-in. This is a note on hospital stationery stating that parents must stay at the House to be near their children. It must include the reason for hospitalization and the initial date of admission or treatment.
• Our Buffalo House is a communal living environment. We ask all guests to be mindful and considerate of our other guests, staff, and volunteers.
• A donation is appreciated but is not required. No eligible family is ever asked to leave the House or is denied future stays at the House because they could not or did not make a donation.
