Hospital volunteers

Help us help even more families in need

We rely on volunteers to extend our signature RMHC hospitality to our hospital guests. As our volunteer at OCH, you can support families visiting the Ronald McDonald Family Room, Family Laundry Room and go to the bedside with our Ronald McDonald Hospitality Cart.

Our Hospital Programs run seven days per week, Monday – Friday 8 am – 2 pm and 8am – 11am on Saturday and Sunday with 3.5 hour shifts. Volunteers are asked to commit to two 3.5-hour shifts per month. (We understand some of our volunteers have extended periods away during the year. We welcome everyone when they are available.)

Volunteers must be 18 years of age or older and are required to complete John R. Oishei Children’s Hospital (OCH) Annual Health Assessment, attend OCH Mandatory Volunteer Orientation with HIPAA training as well as RMHC of WNY training.

As a volunteer, you will:

Welcome and acquaint visitors to the Hospital Programs offerings

Provide support to patients and families.

Make coffee, stage beverages and snacks.

Organize supplies for the kitchenette and Hospitality Cart

Drive the Cart on the patient floors, visiting patients and families.

Tidy the room and cart: This will include wiping the counters, in the refrigerator, and cleaning small spills. (Heavy cleaning is done by Kaleida staff after hours)

  • Becoming a Hospital Programs Volunteer

    The Ronald McDonald Family Room and Ronald McDonald Hospitality Cart will be staffed daily. As a Hospital Programs Volunteer you will lend a caring hand and extend our signature Ronald McDonald House hospitality. All volunteers will receive a free parking pass and a $6.00 meal voucher after each 3.5-hour shift.

    Our hospital programs are operating daily - Monday through Sunday. Please choose the days you are available to volunteer.
    We have hospital programs at Oishei Children's Hospital and Sisters of Charity Hospital, both located in the city of Buffalo. Please choose which program you would prefer to provide volunteer support.
