15 Jan Being a Part of Something Bigger – Don Richardson
Don Richardson is a very busy guy. A devoted husband, married 45 years, a father of 2 sons, an Owner/Operator of a local McDonald’s Restaurant, a volunteer member of the RMHC of WNY Board of Directors, an active volunteer at his local church and Lions Club and an aspiring golfer.
Even with his busy schedule, Don can always lend a hand and support fundraisers and events that benefit the Buffalo Ronald McDonald House.
“I am very proud to be an Owner/Operator. I started with McDonald’s in 1968, working my way up from crew to Owner/Operator. It is a family affair with my wife, Collette, and son. It is very gratifying to have my family working together with me. We support each other. Trust and bond, when surrounded by family, get us through the ups and downs in business and everyday life.
The importance of having your family close to you is what the Buffalo Ronald McDonald House is all about. The partnership between McDonald’s Corporation, its owner/operators, and Ronald McDonald House Charities dates back to the opening of the first Ronald McDonald House in Philadelphia in 1974. Locally, McDonald’s support dates back to the opening of the Buffalo House in 1983. Since then, we have continued to support the House with coin box donations from our customers, our Annual Ronald McDonald House Charities Golf Classic, our Annual Holiday Concert, the 5K run, and many other fundraisers and programs throughout the years.
When you know you are part of this, something that happens around the world every day, it is very gratifying. I am proud and happy to be a part of this.
I have been very fortunate in my life, and having the opportunity to give back and help these families in their time of need is so rewarding for me. It’s a wonderful thing. The Buffalo Ronald McDonald House is a house of love, and that will never change.”
